For any students who are interested in a textile industry career, the IFAI (Industrial Fabrics Association International) is having Student Design Competitions. Students have until Monday, May 15, 2017 to submit projects for this competition. Each project must use textiles as a major component, and any project completed within the last year is eligible.
The Student Design Competitions are a great way for students to showcase their talents to industry professionals. There are four competitions sponsored by four different IFAI divisions.
- Advanced Textiles, which involves designing for aerospace, medical, military, safety/protective or other wearable and non-wearable textile technology applications.
- Awning and Canopy, which involves designing an awning (fixed or retractable), canopy or tension canopy for a public or commercial space.
- Fabric Graphics, which involves designing a fabric graphics installation (2D or 3D) for a public or commercial space.
- Fabric Structures, which involves designing a fabric structure that provides a shelter and architectural interest for a public or commercial site.
